Maria Andrea is a Fine artist ,born in Venezuela in 1999.
My work explores the space where memory, myth, and perception begin to blur. I am interested in images that feel remembered rather than observed—shaped by fragments of childhood, symbolic language, and an ongoing dialogue between imagination and lived experience.
Working through portraiture, I approach the figure as a shifting presence rather than a fixed identity. The figures in my paintings are not portraits in a traditional sense, but carriers of psychological and emotional states. Through subtle gestures, light, and color, I aim to evoke something internal—something felt rather than fully defined.
My practice is rooted in classical oil painting, and I am drawn to the tension between control and openness within that tradition. I often begin with a direct, intuitive approach, then gradually build the surface through layers, allowing the image to evolve over time. This process mirrors the nature of memory itself—accumulative, unstable, and subject to change.
